About Dr Shahbaz N. Malik
I am an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist offering specialist psychological consultations, psychotherapy, and discreet advisory from Central London and via secure encrypted video internationally. My craft was forged through clinical work, training and conducting research within leading British institutions (University College London, Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Tavistock and Portman Trust, The Institute of Psychoanalysis and more). Over years of practice in complex trauma, severe mental distress, and cross-cultural psychology, my work focuses on the intersection of deep psychological structures, unconscious experience, identity, and goes far beyond standardised 'workbook' therapies. I work extensively with those who operate outside conventional moulds and require psychological input which is tailored accordingly. High-stakes environments demand a distinct caliber of psychological engagement. The internal mechanisms that drive significant achievement often coexist with silent exhaustion, unresolved trauma, hyper-vigilance, or significant strain on relationships. My approach moves past superficial symptom management or passive listening. Drawing on psychoanalytic depth, trauma focused approaches and the latest research evidence, I provide a warm, supportive but unvarnished and intellectually rigorous mirror. We will deconstruct behavioural patterns, explore unconscious experiences and consider blind spots, without moralising or pathologising. Total discretion and clinical integrity are foundational. Consultations are protected by absolute confidentiality, providing a rare space where you can speak with complete candour. To ensure the depth, focus, and responsiveness required for this level of work, I maintain a strictly limited private caseload.

Approach
I aim to be steady, honest and unhurried. In my experience, change rarely comes from being pushed, it tends to come from being understood, gently challenged and from seeing your own life a little more clearly.
Colleagues
I have access to a range of highly specialist colleagues. If, after an initial conversation, your needs would be better met elsewhere, I can help connect you with the right person. I do not accept incentives for onward referrals.
